The Druze community has long stood at the forefront of Israeli society, serving with distinction in the military, public service, and civic life. Since October 7, Druze soldiers have once again shouldered an extraordinary burden, defending Israel while their own communities endured profound loss.
As they complete their military service, many now face a new challenge: pursuing higher education while overcoming financial, academic, and social barriers.

To help meet this moment, the University of Haifa, the Jewish United Fund (JUF), and the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) launched Northern Lights  – an initiative providing scholarships, mentorship, professional development, and academic support to discharged Druze soldiers pursuing university studies.
