ABOUT THE EVENT

With Israel’s 2026 election approaching, the country is entering the final stretch of a campaign shaped by a dramatically changed political and social landscape.

Join American Friends of the University of Haifa for a special pre-election briefing with Prof. Israel Waismel-Manor and Dr. Liran Harsgor of the University’s School of Political Science, offering an expert look inside Israel’s 2026 election and the forces influencing voters as Election Day approaches.

Drawing on their expertise in political behavior, public opinion and electoral politics, Prof. Waismel-Manor and Dr. Harsgor will examine the issues motivating voters, shifts in public opinion, turnout and voting patterns, and the role of campaigns and political messaging in shaping the race. The discussion will also explore how several transformative years for Israeli society have affected the country’s electorate and political conversation since the last national election.

The conversation will look at the election from both the campaign and voter perspectives. Prof. Waismel-Manor’s expertise in political behavior and communication will shed light on how campaigns, candidates and the broader political environment influence voters’ perceptions and decisions, while Dr. Harsgor’s research on electoral behavior, turnout and ideological divisions will offer insight into the electorate itself and the factors shaping Israelis’ choices.

Together, they will offer a timely look at Israel’s evolving political landscape in the final weeks before Election Day. The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A.
