With over 18,000 students from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, University of Haifa is the largest research university in northern Israel and the country’s most pluralistic institution of higher education. Comprising 6 faculties, 64 departments, 17 schools, and 54 research centers, the university has earned international acclaim in fields such as public health, security studies, Holocaust research, cancer research, marine sciences, and more.

The Faculty of Humanities is where critical thinking, creativity, and curiosity come to life. Through disciplines like History, Literature, Philosophy, Art, Linguistics, and Archaeology, students explore the ideas, cultures, and narratives that shape human experience. It’s a place to ask big questions, challenge assumptions, and discover the stories that connect us across time and place.

The Herta & Paul Amir Faculty of Social Sciences is the university’s largest faculty, with more than 5,000 students and over 200 academic staff. It encompasses a broad range of disciplines, including political science, psychology, economics, communication, and more—each dedicated to analyzing the forces shaping contemporary society.

Research within the faculty addresses some of the world’s most pressing issues: climate change, artificial intelligence, social polarization, global security, and beyond. By fostering cross-disciplinary thinking, the faculty equips students and scholars to better understand and respond to today’s complex challenges.

The School of Business Administration at the University of Haifa is a hub for innovation, excellence, and sustainability. With a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary thinking and social impact, the School prepares students to lead in a rapidly changing global economy. Programs span MBA tracks in nonprofit management, real estate, HR strategy, technology, and sustainability, as well as MA degrees in actuarial studies and logistics, and a newly launched BA in Business Management.

Grounded in the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the School integrates economic, social, and environmental values into its curriculum and research. Thousands of alumni now hold leadership positions across sectors in Israel and around the world—testament to a legacy of academic rigor, real-world relevance, and forward-thinking leadership.

The Faculty of Education at the University of Haifa is Israel’s largest and only standalone faculty of education. It combines academic excellence with deep engagement in the field—training the next generation of educators, counselors, administrators, and researchers. With a multidisciplinary approach that spans from special education to educational policy, the faculty is home to leading scholars and over 25 active research labs and centers. Grounded in both theory and practice, the faculty plays a vital role in shaping Israel’s education system and strengthening communities through innovative programs and real-world impact.
The Faculty of Law at the University of Haifa offers an interdisciplinary and forward-looking approach to legal education. The Faculty of Social Welfare and Health Sciences at the University of Haifa brings together a wide range of disciplines focused on human health, resilience, and quality of life. Home to academic programs in fields such as social work, public health, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, gerontology, mental health, and communication disorders, the faculty offers a uniquely interdisciplinary approach to education and research. The Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Haifa is a hub of innovation and interdisciplinary research in the life and exact sciences—including biology, environmental science, neuroscience, mathematics, and physics. With a strong focus on student mentorship and scientific excellence, the Faculty is shaping the next generation of researchers and problem-solvers.

To meet growing demand and expand research capacity, the University is planning a state-of-the-art Natural Sciences Lab Complex—designed to support cutting-edge discovery and elevate the Faculty’s global impact.

The Leon H. Charney School of Marine Sciences is Israel’s leading center for oceanographic research and education. With four cutting-edge departments—Marine Geosciences, Marine Biology, Marine Technologies, and Blue Biotechnology—the School integrates science, strategy, and innovation to study and protect our oceans.

Recognized globally for excellence, the School ranked in the Top 200 for Oceanography (Shanghai 2023) and Top 30 for SDG14 “Life Below Water” (THE Impact Rankings 2022). It leads MERCI, Israel’s national Mediterranean research consortium, and works closely with key institutes in environmental strategy and maritime history.

From the Carmel Mountain campus to active coastal research stations and Red Sea field labs, the Charney School is redefining marine science—locally and globally.

Opening in 2025, the The Herta & Paul Amir School of medicine will redefine healthcare education with a mission-driven approach. In partnership with Carmel Medical Center and Clalit, the school will train 100 physicians annually, with a focus on community-based care, underserved populations, and medical fields vital to Israel’s north. Rooted in inclusivity and social responsibility, the school aims to expand opportunity, elevate regional healthcare, and build a healthier, more equitable future.
